Cabrillo College's football team recovered from Jamon Chambers' 71-yard touchdown run less than a minute into Saturday's game against powerful Reedley, the defending Coast Conference champion.

The Seahawks, however, couldn't recover from the 35 unanswered points the Tigers posted in the second and third quarters of their 42-23 loss.

Reedley (4-1, 1-0) trails Monterey Peninsula (4-0, 2-0) in the conference standings. Cabrillo (3-1, 1-1) embarks on a three-game road trip that begins with a nonconference game at Redwoods (1-3) on Saturday at 1 p.m.

"Reedley's a great football team," third-year Seahawks coach Darren Arbet said. "It was a good learning experience. We didn't come out. It's my fault. I didn't have them ready to play. I underestimated a few things. It's totally on me. I told them that."

"I thought second half they came our. The coaches did a good job of making adjustments and I thought we played better. But this one's on me. I gotta undertand what I'm up against next time and be more thorough."
