When Trey Whitley is in the starting lineup for a college basketball team, winning streaks tend to happen.
The Harbor High graduate has led Black Hills State University, an NCAA Division II school in South Dakota, to 11 consecutive victories – and counting – this season. The most recent triumphs came in a pair of road games last weekend.
Whitley – who has started in all but one of BHSU's 19 games this season – scored a then-season-high 22 points on Friday, propelling the Yellow Jackets past New Mexico Highlands 87-83. The 6-foot-1 junior guard then promptly surpassed his season high on Saturday, netting 23 points in a 94-76 victory over Colorado State-Pueblo.
