APTOS — Cabrillo College's football team dug itself into a hole in its Coast Conference opener Saturday night.

If the Seahawks are to contend for the title in their second year removed from the death penalty, they'll need to show more of what they did to dig themselves out of it against San Jose City.

Cabrillo rallied from a 13-point deficit in the first quarter to take a short-lived lead in the third quarter, but the visiting Jaguars pulled away and secured a 32-24 victory.

"It's a tough loss when you're battling so hard," said Peyton Hatten, a freshman running back for the Seahawks. "I'm just glad that we have teammates that never give up. So we're going to battle next week and we're gonna try to get another dub."
