APTOS — Sophomore shooting guard Austin James scored a game-high 22 points, and the Cabrillo College men's basketball team crushed short-handed Alameda 82-55 in nonconference action Monday to extend its win streak to four games.

The Seahawks (11-7, 3-1) carry momentum into their pivotal Coast Conference South Division matchup Wednesday at 7 p.m., when they host No. 10 state-ranked West Valley (17-3, 5-0). Though spectators aren't allowed to attend the game due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the contest will be streamed live on YouTube, thanks to a new camera system installed by Cabrillo's athletic department.

Brandon Harmon (18 points) and Alphonse Alfred (16 points) also helped Cabrillo make quick work of the Cougars (2-16). Cabrillo never trailed.

Monday's tune-up victory allowed Seahawks head coach James Page a chance to play his bench extensively. Wednesday's contest will mark the first of nine games this month, making it an all-out sprint to the postseason for a Seahawk squad already stretched thin by injuries.

Alameda arrived in Aptos with just six players making the trip south, a direct result of some program-wide house cleaning by first-year head coach Ravi Phambhra.

"We're rolling with six (players) because we had guys who didn't want to buy in or do the day-to-day things, like putting the team first," Phambhra said. "It's defiantly tricky (playing with only six players) so you try to use all your time outs and try to control the tempo offensively."
