The Cabrillo College men's water polo opened its season by going 1-1 on Day 1 of the William Anttila Tournament at San Joaquin Delta in Stockton on Friday.

The Seahawks, who have just eight players listed on their roster, lost 20-13 to Modesto and beat Merced 19-10.

"We played great despite having no subs and no rest," said Nick Marini, a sophomore attacker out of Santa Cruz. "No substitute, we don't give a hoot."

Brody Nielsen, a sophomore center out of Soquel, scored a combined 12 goals.
