LOUISVILLE, KY – Twenty-six student-athletes were recognized as the NFCA announced its 2023 Cal JC All-America teams on Wednesday afternoon.
The South Region's Palomar College paced all schools with five recipients, while the North was headlined by Sierra College with four honorees and College of San Mateo with three. Four schools across the two regions boasted two winners apiece, and six others had one.

Leading Palomar's honorees are the battery of pitcher India Caldwell (25-1, 0.61 ERA, 19 CG, 12 SHO, 251 K, 34 BB, 228.1 IP) and catcher Ellison Hazlett (.404, 25 R, 5 2B, 2 3B, 32 RBI). First baseman Allyson Amato (.432, 40 R, 11 2B, 3 3B, 5 HR, 43 RBI, 7 SB), outfielder Faith Steffany (.430, 40 R, 8 2B, 3 3B, 2 HR, 26 RBI, 22-23 SB) and Aaliyah Rivas (.440, 36 R, 9 2B, 15 HR, 41 RBI) in the DP or utility/non-pitcher category are the other three.
Sierra's quartet of pitcher Amaya Sutton (22-1, 1.21 ERA, 13 CG, 5 SHO, 27 BB, 194 K, 173.1 IP), third baseman Jazzy Smith (.318, 42 H, 14 2B, 4 SB), shortstop Eliana Enriquez (.521, 49 R, 74 H, 5 2B, 3 3B, 36-29 SB) and DP or utility/non-pitcher Kendal Manley (.339, 23 R, 11 2B, 8 HR, 37 RBI) accounted for nearly one-third of this year's North award winners.
College of San Mateo catcher Gabrielle Perez (.366, 20 R, 11 2B, 33 RBI) and outfielders Lafulafu Malepeai (.513, 54 R, 58 H, 11 2B, 5 3B, 14 HR, 45 RBI, 26 SB) and Hailey Meisenbach (.435, 25 R, 5 2B, 2 HR, 21 RBI, 15 SB, 6 assists); Butte College outfielder Alexis Detwiler (.553, 55 R, 73 H, 16 2B, 8 3B, 9 HR, 59 RBI, 8 SB) and utility/pitcher Maggie Smith (17-4, 1.80 ERA, 6 SHO, 91 K, 28 BB, 128 IP, plus .355, 44 H, 19 RBI); and Fresno City College pitcher Marissa Reyes (8-8, 2.90 ERA, SV, 4 CG, 106.1 IP) and first baseman Destyne White (.436, 38 R, 10 2B, 2 3B, 10 HR, 30 RBI, 7 SB) represented the other North schools with multiple honorees.
Cypress College shortstop Jaylene Duarte (.455, 35 R, 66 H, 14 2B, 5 3B, 38 RBI, 6 SB) and utility/pitcher Emily Rush (27-4, 1.54 ERA, 20 CG, 195 IP, 103 K, 32 BB, plus .447, 40 R, 15 2B, 13 HR, 37 RBI) and Mt. San Antonio pitcher Aleyna Urbina (18-2, 1.04 ERA, 9 CG, 4 SHO, 91 K, 10 BB, 121.2 IP) and outfielder Mia Mendoza (.386, 26 R, 44 H, 11 2B, 2 3B, 4 HR, 44 RBI, 5 SB) were the other South teams with multiple honorees.
Rounding out the North team are Cabrillo College second baseman Dillyn Vasconcellos (.398, 38 R, 4 2B, 3 3B, 19 RBI, 29-32 SB) and San Jose City College pitcher Alaina Valdez (16-8, 2.13 ERA, SV, 12 CG, 151 IP, 135 K, 48 BB). Antelope Valley College third baseman Savannah Cervantes (.521, 32 R, 62 H, 12 2B, 8 HR, 35 RBI), Cerritos College second baseman Alyssa Sotelo (.372, 34 R, 55 H, 10 2B, 3 3B, 2 HR, 29 RBI, 17 SB), Long Beach City College outfielder Alia Marquez (.457, 37 R, 59 H, 4 2B, 15 SB) and Ventura College pitcher Ashlyn Flinchum (22-4, 1.77 ERA, 24 CG, 4 SHO, 221 K, 69 BB, 186 IP) complete the South squad.
Rush and Smith earned the additional distinction of being Joan Joyce Utility/Pitcher First Team All-Americans, as that spot on all NFCA collegiate All-America teams will carry the late Hall of Famer's name starting with this season's honors.
NFCA Cal JC All-America athletes must be nominated by their NFCA-member head coaches and are voted for by the coaches in their region to receive this prestigious accolade.
