The Cabrillo College men's basketball team, co-runner-up in the Coast Conference South Division, qualified for the CCCAA NorCal Regional playoffs.

The Seahawks (17-11, 8-4) received the No. 17 seed and play at No. 16 American River (17-9) in Sacramento in Tuesday's first round at 7 p.m.

The winner takes on No. 1 seed City College of San Francisco in the second round on Thursday night.

Cabrillo tied San Jose City (22-6, 8-4) for second place in the South Division, behind champion West Valley (24-3, 12-0).

The Seahawks are led by Austin James, a 6-foot-2 sophomore guard who was named an all-South Division first-team selection. He averaged a team leading 15.2 points per game.

Two other Seahawks guards, sophomore Jonel Aponte and freshman guard Joe Rush III, were named to the second team. Sophomore guard Alphonse Alfred was an honorable mention.

Rush was named to the All-Freshman Team, and sophomore forward Ronique Spencer and freshman forward Samy Buteau were named to the All-Defensive Team.
