Santa Cruz's Walmer Martinez was among the 27 players that manager Hugo Perez called up to compete in El Salvador's first three qualifiers for the Qatar 2022 World Cup.
The team's first matches will be against the United States on Thursday, Honduras on Sept. 5 and Canada on Sept. 8.
Martinez, an attacker who turned 23 on Aug. 17, plays for USL Championship club Hartford Athletic. He has eight caps and two goals.
He played college soccer at Cabrillo and Cal State University Monterey Bay.
