Josh Thomas has been a Kinesiology instructor and Aquatics Coach at Cabrillo since 1999. He has experience teaching swimming, water polo, lifeguard training, and weight training. He has coached the women's water polo program to a NorCal playoff birth in 2000 and 2015, and a second place finish in the Coast Conference in 2005 and 2011, and a conference championship in 2015. The men's water polo teams have made the NorCal Playoffs for 6 of the last 8 years. Since 2001 when Josh took over the reins as the head coach of the swim team he has had multiple state meet qualifiers with All American status. Mariko Ikehata was state champion in the 50 backstroke in 2003. Tom Zaferes was a three-event winner, and state swimmer of the year on his way to breaking the National Record in the 200 Butterfly in 2006.
Josh currently lives in Los Gatos with his daughter Mia and son Max. He enjoys being active, going to sporting events, and going to the beach in his spare time, as well as spending time with his family and friends.
