APTOS — Cabrillo College's women's volleyball team is getting a head start on the road to Fresno, site of this year's state community college championships.

The No. 6 seed Seahawks earned a second-round match at No. 3 Fresno City in the NorCal playoffs after earning a 25-22, 25-13, 25-21 sweep of No. 11 Shasta in the first round Tuesday night in Cabrillo's gym.

The Seahawks (17-7) started each set strong, but needed to hold off the Knights (15-10) at the end of the set.

"A win's a win right now and that that's all we can do to go to the next phase," said Cabrillo coach Kelsee Montagna. "I don't think we played our best volleyball today, which is okay, but we still have a lot to learn."
