Former Spartan Belene Rodriguez Signs With Women's Water Polo For 2023

Cabrillo College Women's Water Polo is honored to announce the signing of Belene Rodriguez to this years squad. An acomplished player who boast elite speed, passing, shooting, and defensive skills Belene comes to Cabrillo by way of San Jose State where she played in 25 matches last season where she tallied 13 goals, 6 assists, and 9 steals while winning 7 of 12 sprints.


A Political Science major with an eye set on law school, Belene was named a USA Water Polo Outstanding Academic All-American and was a USA Water Polo Olympic Development Program PAC Starter. She hopes to one day work as a civil rights attorney.

Belene is the third former NCAA player to sign with the Seahawks in Associate Head Coach George-Paul Scheppler's first season at helm. Olivia Garley (Long Beach State) and Sierra Nielson (CSU East Bay) will join 15 other players to form the largest women's water polo team in school history.

During Belene's time at Santa Cruz High she set school records for most goals in a season (116), in the 50 free (23:70), and in the 100 free (54:24). She was also a named to the varisty All-league team, and was a two year captian in additon to being on the school's honor roll.
